A Quick Guide to Preventative Maintenance Visits

When your air conditioner is in jeopardy, you have to rush to get much-needed repairs in at the last minute. You might have other plans, but leaving your house hot is simply not an option for you. That’s why preventative maintenance is such a valuable service.

Preventative maintenance can help to prevent repairs from occurring in the summer, and more! You might notice:

  • Better performance and a cooler home.
  • Accurate temperatures.
  • Lower monthly bills.

So how is all of this achieved during a maintenance visit from a qualified technician?

An Inspection

First, a qualified technician will inspect your entire unit, inside and out, in order to find any problem areas within the system. If anything needs to be scheduled for repair, the technician will let you know so that you won’t be making a repair in the middle of the summer when it’s inconvenient for you. Quality technicians give you a full report of your system and make sure you understand the maintenance process.

Adjustments

Making some adjustments to your AC system is part of what helps to prevent repairs. The motors may need some lubrication to keep running smoothly, for example. Electrical connections may need tightening, helping to lower your bills. There could even be a loose screw or a bent fan blade that your technician can take care of on the spot.

Cleaning

A system runs more smoothly when it is clean. The outside coil is of particular concern because it’s so prone to collecting dirt and debris. When it does, it is no longer effective at allowing heat to dissipate, a key part of the refrigeration process. Your technician should clean this off and may also clean off some other components, as necessary.
